Who is this Qualification for?

The certificate is designed to give learners the opportunity to investigate a work role in their chosen sector and to provide the underpinning knowledge needed to work effectively. The course is ideal for those who work in, or want to work in a generic role within this sector.

What are the entry requirements?

The Learner must be 16 years of age or over 19+

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualiification.

How will these qualifications benefit Me?

This qualification aims to help learners to understand the skills required to start their working life. This course covers both personal and work skills required to be successful. There is also an emphasis on job search skills and producing a CV, letter and application form which could be used for a job interview.

The qualification structure allows learners a wide choice of units across a number of levels to accommodate their wide ranging needs.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is the process of measuring the learner’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. Each candidate is required to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates all learning outcomes associated with each unit. This may be achieved by:

  • Observation
  • Witness testimony
  • Assignment
  • Written
  • Verbal discussion


Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • NVQ level 2
  • Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in a chosen vocational area
  • Empoyment
